Hooked on YouTube and Golf

There are golf pages on YouTube that have millions of subscribers. Most golfers turn to YouTube to watch various teaching pros showing their “simple” techniques to improve your swing. I watched one video explain how a golfer can get longer drives with their 2-second drill. In fact, golf is one of the most watched sports-connected content that is available on YouTube. Some of the most watched videos have very little to do with the sport itself. You can watch videos on the following golf subjects, “Worst Golf Swing,” “Miricale Golf Shot,” “Funniest Golf Outfit,” “Tallest Miniature Golf Hole in One,” “Luckiest Golf Shot,” Funniest Golf Contest,” and there is an endless amount of “Trick Golf Shot Videos.”

There is a mind-numbing number of corporations and major golf influencers that have video pages on YouTube. Trust me, I have spent an enormous amount of time clicking through influencers that compare drivers, wedges, gloves, tees, and putters. Then there are all of the “How To” videos which include the following: Drives, 1 irons, flop shots, sand shots, slope shots, backspin shots, bump shots and putting. All of these are very entertaining to watch, but it takes years to master true techniques. The large influencers have a million or more subscribers, and they probably get a healthy amount of money from their channels. I for one, can get easily lost in viewing some of the videos and spend far too much time surfing through the large variety that YouTube carries. The ones that I like, I watch over and over again because I am sure that I can duplicate their swings. (Probably not.) So yes, I remain hooked on YouTube golf videos, but I am not about to seek therapy or stop my habit-forming ways.

In fact, I will probably add my own videos to the YouTube channel (Shameless Plug: (1) Golf Giddy – YouTube) Maybe, with some lucky video shots I can get subscribers to my channel, but I refuse to make a video showing me falling off a tier at Top Golf or swinging near a pond and falling in, just to get laughs and views. (Well, let me think about the last two ideas a bit more.) How about you? Do you enjoy watching golf on YouTube?” Let me know how you feel by making a comment.
